Mansoor Ali Baig is Head of Scientific Computing in Research and Innovation at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, with more than 27 years of experience in information technology and software development. He is responsible for the research and innovation infrastructure, covering servers and databases as well as the design, development, implementation, integration and maintenance of the scientific and business software applications the function depends on. He currently leads the research and innovation digital transformation programme, which digitises and digitalises research processes end to end and sets the artificial intelligence strategy for research and innovation, and his remit extends to the infrastructure supporting the centre's research units and its genomics work. Earlier in his career he contributed to national and international healthcare projects. His combination of information technology depth with practical knowledge of medical research is an unusual pairing of skills, and it underpins his work on enterprise digital transformation and applied artificial intelligence inside a hospital research environment.
