Engineer Khalil bin Ibrahim bin Salama, Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industrial Affairs, confirmed that smart and automated logistics solutions have increased warehouse storage capacity by four to five times compared to traditional spaces, and have helped address supply chain challenges. He made these remarks during the Riyadh International Industry Week 2026, which features the Saudi Smart Logistics exhibition.
In a statement to Sabq, Bin Salama highlighted that the exhibition showcased advanced models of automated logistics solutions that optimize space utilization, enabling companies and industrial zones to establish fully automated smart warehouses. He noted that many factories previously faced challenges related to raw material shortages, limited storage space, and disruptions in external shipping operations.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that larger storage capacities provide factories with greater flexibility and smoother production processes, enhancing their ability to cope with supply chain fluctuations. He also pointed out that the exhibition demonstrated the integration between industrial and logistics solutions, with major national companies like SABIC playing a key role in strengthening cooperation among raw material suppliers, factories, and logistics providers.
The Riyadh International Industry Week 2026, held under the patronage of the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center, features over 337 exhibitors from 17 countries. The event includes three specialized exhibitions: the Saudi Plastics and Petrochemicals Exhibition, the Saudi Printing and Packaging Exhibition, and the Saudi Smart Logistics Exhibition, along with dialogue sessions and workshops on industrial transformation, innovation, localization, and advanced packaging solutions.
